You have to keep the phone or tablet safe on any network that you use, even if it’s a home network.
That’s because Apple’s iOS 9 and iOS 10 make it very difficult for users to connect to Wi-Fi networks that they don’t own, even when they’re using an authorized network.
Apple and Google are working on an update to the iOS platform that will remove the need for you to physically connect to your home Wi-FI network, and it could mean that you won’t need to use a Wi-fi network to keep an iPhone or iPad from being infected.
The update will be rolling out to iOS devices in the next few days, and you can sign up to receive notifications if you are in the beta program.
